Information about possible root causes for an unexpected RAID rebuild

Description

Unable to determine possible root causes that may trigger an unexpected RAID rebuild. There are some system events related to Microsoft-Windows-Storage-Storport/Operational, but unable to identify the root cause of the issue.

Resolution

RAID rebuilds could occur due to the SSD (solid-state drive) or HDD (hard disk drive) integrity or even SATA ports on the motherboard. Back up all data before proceeding

  1. Disable the RAID Volume in the Intel® Optane Memory and Storage Management application (See Section 4.10.3 in the Intel® RST User Guide.
  2. Check the health of each of the SSD/HDD's in the system with diagnostic tools typically available from the drive manufacturer (Example Intel® Memory and Storage Tool)
  3. Contact the computer manufacturer for possible BIOS updates
