Summary
Troubleshooting steps to perform in resolving packet loss for Intel® Ethernet Adapters
Description
- Wanted to capture high rate data (more than 3 Gb per second per port) on Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter x710 DA4, and CPU load is just on one core.
- Tested to capture 3.3 Gb rate data from one port and result was good without any loss.
- When data was captured from two or more ports simultaneously, lot of packet loss was captured.
Resolution
- Enable Receive Side Scaling (RSS) feature on the Intel® Network Adapter.
- Install the latest driver.
- Install the latest firmware version of the Intel Network Adapter.
- Set the Flow control configuration on the switch and Intel Network Adapter to Rx & Tx Enabled.
- Use Compatible SFP+ Modules, SFP Modules, and Cables.
- Follow Tuning Throughput Performance for Intel® Ethernet Adapters.
- Test the Intel Network Adapter on different PCI and ensure that it is installed in a PCI slot that is capable of X8.
- Try to capture data using a different tool.
- Refer to Optimizing Performance tuning notes of the Intel Ethernet User Guide that should be helpful in getting multi-port performance to improve in Windows*.
- Adjust RSS settings controlled through RSS configuration.
