Error: "This operating system is not supported when updating Intel® Graphics" Appears While Intel Graphics is Disabled

Solution for the error message "This operating system is not supported when updating Intel® Graphics" when Intel® Graphics is disabled in the BIOS.

Description

The Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA) prompts to install a new Intel® Graphics driver for the integrated Intel® Graphics Controller in the system. When attempting to install the driver and the error "This operating system is not supported when updating Intel® Graphics" appears. However, integrated graphics is disabled in the system BIOS and only discrete graphics is enabled.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is included in Intel* DSA version 20.9.36.10.

Follow the below steps to update to the latest IDSA version:

  1. Uninstall the existing Intel Driver & Support Assistant from Apps and Features.
  2. Click Start.
  3. Open Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs.
  5. Select Programs and Features.
  6. From the list that displays, click Intel Driver & Support Assistant.
  7. Click Uninstall.
  8. A new window opens that offers to uninstall the program. Remove any remaining files from the IDSA in the system using the Uninstaller tool.
  9. Download and reinstall the latest IDSA version, run the installer as administrator (right-click on the icon and choose Run as Administrator).
