The virtsh command used doesn't seem to support PMem.

Does Kernel Virtual Machine (KVM) support AppDirect mode?

Note that the virtsh command that most people prefer to use does not currently support pmem. You can manually add an entry to the XML file for the guest as the QEMU kernel does understand it. Support for Pmem in virtsh has been discussed and should be added soon.
