Steps to update the firmware on and Intel® SSD using the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool (Intel® MAS)

Using Intel® MAS GUI
Note | The latest firmware version available by drive can be found in the Firmware Versions for Intel® Solid State Drives and Intel® Optane™ Memory resource. |
- Open the application.
- Select the Firmware Update on the left side panel.
- The Summary page will also display if there is a firmware update available for each of the supported drives with the current version of the application.
- If available, press Firmware Update as seen in the image below.
Using Intel® MAS CLI
- Open the operating system command line interface:
- [Windows*] Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Click on Windows menu.
- Type command prompt.
- Click on Run as administrator.
- [Linux*] Open Terminal with root privileges.
- Press CTRL+ALT+T.
- Type sudo su
- Ensure the command line interface begins with # and not $, as this indicates user has root privileges.
- [Windows*] Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type the following: intelmas load -intelssd <ssd_index>

- Users can create a script to update multiple drives.
SSDs in RAID? With the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool (CLI) the drive's firmware can be updated in systems utilizing Intel® RST, Intel® RSTe, and Intel® VROC.
Updated firmware is also supported with the following hardware RAID cards. Before proceeding in this case, first use the following command: intelmas set -system EnableLSIAdapter='true'.
Supported RAID cards:
- MR SAS 9260-16i (RAID card chipset LSI-2108)
- MR SAS 9270-8i (RAID card chipset LSI-2208)
- MR SAS 9341-4i (RAID card chipset LSI-3008)
- MR SAS 9341-8i (RAID card chipset LSI-3008)
- MR SAS 9361-4i (RAID card chipset LSI-3108)
For unsupported configurations, customers may use MegaCli/StorCli or other tools.
