Error: “Unable to Inject the Driver into Windows Recovery Partition” When Setting Up Intel® Optane™ Memory

Environment

Windows® 10, 64-bit*

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

Steps to properly set up Intel® Optane™ memory when the error "Unable to inject the driver into Windows Recovery Partition" displays

Description

During the installation of Intel® Optane™ memory, an error message is displayed: Unable to inject the driver into Windows Recovery Partition.

Resolution

This error may appear during the setup process of the Intel® Optane™ memory because the Windows* recovery partition is missing from the drive to be accelerated (primary drive). The reason for this is likely that the partition style of the drive was converted from MBR to GPT prior to the Intel® Optane™ memory setup.

To fix this issue and be able to set up the Intel® Optane™ memory, re-install the operating system, making sure the BIOS is set to UEFI. This will make the installation use the GPT partition style and create the recovery partition during the operating system installation.

Once the installation is complete, continue with the Intel® Optane™ memory setup process as described in How to Install and Manage Intel® Optane™ Memory Devices.

Notes
  • Back up all your data before re-installating the operating system.
  • For operating system installation assistance, you can refer to contact Microsoft* or the motherboard manufacturer.
