Summary
Check hard disk (HDD) configuration to avoid Hot Swap Backplane (HSBP) failure.
Description
The hard disk (HDD) cannot be detected in Basic Input Output System (BIOS) when connecting the Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) cables to both Hot Swap Backplane (HSBP) and on SATA ports.
Resolution
- Use the appropriate hard disk (HDD) carrier found on the last page of the 1U / 2U Spare and Replacement Parts (FRUs) table of the Configuration Guide.
- Make sure the HDD carrier is installed with hard disk or plastic baffle.
Additional information
- The plastic baffle is the part of HDD carrier for maintaining the shape of HDD carrier.
- When baffle is not present, HDD carrier will move further inside because the locks may not be in place. This is the root cause of HDD carrier hitting the HSBP (When this happens, it results in a damaged HDD carrier).
