Covers details about basic troubleshooting for Server Motherboard Ethernet Ports, specifically related to the STB model.
In this scenario, the Network port will not work. This has been tested with several adapters and cables, and it will not show any LED activity.
Troubleshooting steps to discard a defective motherboard/port:
- Check that a CAT5e/CAT6 (Category that supports Gigabit connections) is being used.
- With the Intel® Server Board, there is a 10-GB Ethernet port configured that way by default, Make sure that it is connected to a 10-GB/1-Gb capable device to enable connectivity, or configure the port to 100mbs to see if the behavior changes.
- Check the configuration for the port on the device manager (In Windows*) to make sure that it is established.
If none of these options work, get in contact with customer support to determine if a warranty is required for your board.
