Description

Opening WhatsApp Web* and Google Chrome* applications causes the system to freeze.

Resolution

Follow the steps below:

  • The first four troubleshooting tips below can help if the application uses network/internet connections.
    • Clear cache.
    • Check network proxy.
    • Disable firewall in Windows*.
    • Check Internet connection.
  • Remove any programs on the system that you do not use or do not recognize, especially if you recently installed something before the issue started.
  • Check the health of the storage.
    • Run Error Check on the drives.
    • For Intel® SSDs, use the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool to run diagnostics on the drive. (Update the firmware at a later time if needed, but do not update during the troubleshooting because this may introduce new problems.)
    • For non-Intel SSDs, there might be a similar tool from the manufacturer.
  • Check for updates/patches If the application has an update process.
  • Verify that the latest version of the third-party software application is installed.
  • Perform Windows updates.
