Summary

Information about how to create 3 RAID arrays in the same embedded RAID controller.

Description

The system is not allowing to set a hot spare that cover all the disks in 3 different arrays within the same embedded controller (ESRT2).

Resolution

The ESRT2 RAID (Embedded Server RAID Technology 2) in the Intel® Server Board S2600WTTR, will be able to support up to 4 disks only.

  • If 8 drives are being connected to all the sSATA and SATA ports, these cannot be mixed to create a RAID and a global hot spare cannot be applied to both groups.
  • It is recommended to get a hardware RAID card so it can be used to manage 3 RAID 1 and add a global hot spare that covers all of the drives.
