Troubleshooting tips to recover the SSD if Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) errors are detected.
Description
Getting Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) errors when trying to initialize or create a partition in the drive.
Resolution
If CRC errors are detected by the system, try the following:
- Update the firmware of the drive: Intel® Memory and Storage Tool: Quick Tips on How to View Drive Details, Update Firmware, and View/Export SMART Logs.
- Perform a low level format: How to Low-Level Format an Intel SSD with the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool, or with third-party tools When to Run a Low-Level Format or Secure Erase on Intel® Solid State Drives and Tools to Use.
- Check in Disk Management if the drive is set as a Basic disk type. If it is not, change it to Basic type. Refer to Change a dynamic disk back to a basic disk for detailed instructions.
