Description

Issues encountered:

  • Intermittent shutdown and restart when opening applications.
  • System shutdown after boot.
Resolution

If the system is experiencing intermittent shutdown while it is running, try some of these tips:

  • Update the BIOS of your motherboard. Contact motherboard vendors for BIOS update.
  • Try another memory DRAM, power supply, and motherboard. Some CPUs need a video card; replace with another one when needed.
  • Test another processor on the motherboard and check if the issue is resolved. Refer to How to Troubleshoot an Issue by Swapping Between Processors.

If the processor booted and then shut down after a few seconds, check fan connectivity and thermal solution installation. BIOS will issue shutdown to protect the computer from overheating.
