Steps to create Intel® ESRT2 RAID using the HII Configuration Utility
Unable to find Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology 2 (Intel® ESRT2) RAID option on Intel® Server Board S2600WF/BP/ST Family–based system. Only the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology enterprise (Intel® RSTe) RAID option is available.
Follow the steps below to enable Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology 2 (Intel® ESRT2):
- Ensure the system is configured to UEFI boot mode.
Note If you already have operating system (OS) installed under legacy boot mode, you are required to reinstall the OS after changing to UEFI boot mode.
- During power on, press F2 to enter BIOS setup.
- Navigate to Advanced -> Mass Storage Controller Configuration -> SATA Controller (sSATA controller does not support Intel ESRT2).
- Select RAID Mode for AHCI Capable SATA Controller.
- Select Intel (R) ESRT2 for SATA RAID Options.
- Save and restart the system.
Follow the steps below to create a RAID array using Intel ESRT2 after it is enabled:
- Power on system and press F2 to enter BIOS setup.
- Navigate to Advanced -> PCI Configuration -> UEFI Option ROM Control -> Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology 2 (SATA).
- Select Virtual Drive Management.
- Select Create Configuration.
- Select desired RAID level (RAID 5 requires a separate feature key to enable).
- Use Select Drives to add the disks to the RAID array using Space or Enter key and select Apply Changes.
Note If your drives are solid-state drives (SSDs) instead of hard disk drives (HDDs), select SSD for the Media Type. Therefore, the drives can be seen as selectable.
- Configure Virtual Drive Name, Size, and read/write policy as desired.
- Select Save Configuration.
Note |
It may be required to install the ESRT2 driver when installing OS on the ESRT2 RAID volume: Refer to the Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology 2 (Intel® ESRT2) User Guide for further details. |
Intel® ESRT2 is supported only on UEFI mode for Intel® Server Board S2600WF/BP/ST Family–based system.
