Warning Message “Server Is Running Factory Firmware” on Intel® Server Boards and Systems
Intel® Server Boards and Intel® Server Systems that contain the factory-installed BIOS firmware will display the following message during POST and at the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) login screen:
WARNING: This server is running factory firmware. A software update is required. As a part of the integration process, load the latest system update package (SUP) to enable the latest security, quality, and performance capabilities.

It is important to make sure that the latest updates are applied to the system, so these reminders will continue to be displayed until the BIOS is updated.
You can easily determine the latest firmware on the Intel® Server BIOS Support Central resources page:
- Type the Server or System model in the text field.
- Click the Search button.
- Proceed to the latest download packages and install following the installation instructions.
