Secondary/Data Drive Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory
Drives can be paired with Intel® Optane™ memory, using the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) driver and software, to increase system responsiveness. The drive being accelerated can contain the operating system, known as the System drive, or only contain data, known as the Secondary or Data drive.
When accelerating the Data drive, it is important to keep the following in mind:
- Drive type Basic is supported, type Dynamic is not. The drive type can be viewed in Disk Management (press Windows Key + x).
- Supported Drives for Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory must be formatted with a GPT partition.
- Only one Intel® Optane™ Memory volume is supported in a platform and only one drive can be accelerated by the Intel® Optane™ Memory module.
- Statistics in the application are only available when accelerating a system drive with a 32GB module..
Complete system requirements and configuration details can be found in the Installation and User Guide for the Intel® Optane™ Memory M Series.
When selecting a disk for acceleration the application will add the System tag at the end of the drive name to signify the System drive currently being used.
