What to Do If an Intel® NUC’s Local Area Network (LAN) Port Is Not Working

Description
  • The NUC's Local Area Network (LAN) port stop working and the LAN LED light is not blinking. 
  • LAN port does not work when the Intel® NUC is restarted. It only becomes active again if the power plug is removed and reconnected.
Resolution

Follow the guidelines below for troubleshooting LAN connection problem.

Basics
  1. Reboot the system 
  2. Use Windows Network Troubleshooter.
  3. Re-seat ethernet cable.
 
Check BIOSCheck that Ethernet LAN is enabled in BIOS:
  1. Press F2 during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
  2. Go to Advanced Devices Onboard Devices.
  3. Check the box to enable LAN.
  4. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
You might see this as Primary LAN and Secondary LAN on some Intel NUC models.
 
Check LAN cableMake sure you're using a known good network cable. 
Check Ethernet driversInstall the latest Ethernet LAN drivers available on Download Center for the Intel NUC. 
Update BIOSInstall the latest BIOS available on Download Center for the Intel NUC.

Cold Reboot
  1. Turn off the Intel® NUC
  2. Unplug all the cables and peripherals of the Intel® NUC.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds then release it to discharge remaining power. Clearing the CMOS battery is optional.
  4. Reconnect all cables back again and turn on your computer.
 
Check operating systemMake sure you're using a supported operating system for your Intel NUC.
