Content Type: Install & Setup   |   Article ID: 000025896   |   Last Reviewed: 07/29/2021

Environment

Operating System

WindowsServer2016
Intel® Server System R1208WFTYS 2x Xeon 4110 Silver CPUs 2x SSDPEKKA512G701 M.2 512GB HDD 2x SSDPE7KX010T701 PCIe 1TB HDDs into the hot swap carriers

Description

Being Legacy Boot mode set in Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), one can create a bootable Redundant array of independent disks (RAID) volume through Intel® Rapid Storage Technology enterprise [Intel® RSTe] and begin the Windows* Server 2016 Operating System (OS) initial set-up screen; however, it would not recognize the RAID volume ("no bootable drive is found" error), despite attempting to load the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) and RSTe driver for Windows*.

Resolution

Either try with another media or install Windows* 10 [upload the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) and RSTe driver for Windows* if the RAID volume is not seen]; once, the OS is installed, upgrade to Windows* Server 2016.
