Unknown device properties

Because of this situation, you may get the following Windows Update related message:

Unsupported hardware

What's the environment?

  • E3-1200 v6 on Intel® Server Systems with the Intel® Server Board S1200SPOR
  • Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) enabled in BIOS
  • Windows Server 2012 R2*

Why am I seeing it?

The Intel® SGX Security option is enabled in BIOS.

How to fix it

Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) is an Intel technology for application developers who are seeking to protect select code and data from disclosure or modification.

The SGX drivers are currently available on at Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) Driver for Windows*.

If you don't require Intel SGX, you are able to disable the SGX Security option in the board BIOS.

Notes

The Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) feature doesn't have a dependency on the operating system when disabled. If you're not required to use the Intel® SGX, we recommend you disable it in BIOS.

For more information on Intel SGX, section 3.2.1 of the Technical Product Specification is helpful:

section 3.2.1

If your Intel® Server System is Intel® Server System LR1304SPCFSGX1, refer to its Intel SGX Server Block solution brief.
