Frequently Asked Questions for Intel® Storage System JBOD2000 S2 and S3 Family
What is the difference between the S2 and the S3 series?
The S3 (Intel® Storage System JBOD2312S3SP) series supports 12Gb/s. The S2 series (Intel® Storage System JBOD2312S2SP, JBOD2224S2DP) supported 6Gb/s, and was discontinued in December 2016.
Where is the documentation?
Which capabilities and features does the single-port Intel® Storage System JBOD2312S2SP provide?
A simple external JBOD unit provides 6G SAS/SATA connectivity through external SFF-8088 connection, using a single expander configuration.
What does the dual-port Intel® Storage System JBOD2224S2DP provide?
This system provides dual expanders, dual JBOD SAS adapter boards, and dual gold efficiency power supplies for complete redundancy.
What does Cascadable mean for the Intel® Storage System JBOD2000 Family?
These systems have an optional output Mini-SAS connection for cascading to other JBODs. This is either a 1x connection for the single-port system, or 2x connections for the dual-port system. The cable and second SAS adapter are not included with the JBOD system.
Are rails included?
The Intel® Storage System JBOD2312S2SP does not include rails. You can order rails separately using the Spares/Accessories List and Configuration Guide.
The Intel® Storage System JBOD2224S2DP includes an AXXELVRAIL kit. You can find information on the AXXELVRAIL kit in the Spares/Accessories List and Configuration Guide. You can also use other rail kits shown in the Spares/Accessories List and Configuration Guide.
Note | The AXXELVRAIL value rack mount rail kit is not designed to support shipment of the Intel® Server System while installed in a rack. |
Where do I install an Intel® RAID controller in the Intel® Storage System JBOD2000?
The Intel® Storage System JBOD2000 does not use an Intel® RAID Controller. An Intel RAID Controller would be installed in a Intel® Server System that would then be connected to the JBOD2000 through the external SFF-8088 connections.
What do I need to hook the Intel® Storage System up to my server?
There are no required components to make this system functional.
Cables are not provided due to the different external Intel® RAID Controller ports available and cable lengths required.
