Potential Fan Issues Updating BIOS and Loading BIOS Default Values for Intel® Server Boards and Intel® Server Systems

What am I seeing?

After updating to the latest BIOS and loading the BIOS default values, the system may experience one of these scenarios after the operating system reaches the GUI screen:

• The fans would boost to a high speed and would stay at a high speed.

• The fans would boost to a high speed and then would ramp down to a lower speed and repeat the scenario.

How to fix it

To work around this fan issue, during POST, go to BIOS by pressing <F2> -> Advanced Menu -> Processor Configuration -> Processor C6 Report -> Disabled (value would be enabled when BIOS default is loaded).

Boot to the operating system and the fan issue is resolved.
