How to Fix a Bricked or Unresponsive Intel® Galileo Board
If your Intel® Galileo Board is unresponsive, check the Windows* COM driver.
Note | Check to see if your firmware is corrupt before flashing new firmware. Plug in a serial cable and view the messages in BIOS. If you see the message "ASSERT_EFI_ERROR," then your firmware is corrupt. You need to flash new firmware to resolve the issue. |
You need:
- Intel Galileo Board
- Image to Flash (Bin file)
- SF-100 DediProg
- 2x5 DediProg cable
- DediProg engineering software
Note Changing the firmware using this method causes an incorrect MAC address. An incorrect MAC address isn't a problem unless you've fixed two Intel Galileo Boards using this method, and then attached them to the same network. To flash new firmware, follow these steps:
- Download and install the DediProg software.
- Remove all power supplies from the Intel Galileo Board, both USB, and power.
- Plug in the SF-100 DediProg to the Intel Galileo Board using the 2X5 cable.
- Plug in the SF-100 DediProg to the system running the DediProg software. You might need to install the device driver for the DediProg.
- Click Start > Programs > DediProg > DediProg Engineering. Select the Flash Chip Version W25Q64FV, and click OK.
- Click File > Find, and select the file to flash.
- Click Batch. This step identifies, erases, and programs the chip. This step also verifies the programming.
- Disconnect the SF-100 from the Intel Galileo Board.
- Boot the Intel Galileo Board.
