Recovery Mode for Intel® Galileo Boards

What are you seeing?
Your Intel® Galileo Board doesn’t boot. 

Why are you seeing it?
The firmware is corrupted.

How to fix it
Use the recovery mode.

Follow these steps:

1. Use the serial cable to connect to the Intel Galileo Board via Linux*. If you don't have a serial cable, see Sergey's Blog - Malinov Family Web Presence for steps on how to make one.
2. Build the FVMAIN.fv following the Intel® Quark™ SoC BSP Build and Software User Guide section 8.
3. Copy the FVMAIN.fv to the root of a USB flash drive.
4. Disconnect the power supply from the Intel Galileo.
5. Connect the serial cable to the UART port.
6. Open a client connection using PuTTY or similar program.
7. Connect the USB to USB HOST port.
8. Ground the resistor mentioned in section 2.5.4 of the Intel® Galileo Board User Guide.
9. Connect the power supply to the Intel Galileo board. A menu displays, as shown below. Type 4 for the Intel Galileo Board.
   
10. Remove the ground connection to the resistor.
11. Press R to recover the firmware.
    

The recovery takes about five minutes. After the recovery, update your firmware from the Arduino* IDE to make sure you have the latest firmware.
