Summary:
A potential security vulnerability in SMI Transfer monitor (STM) may allow escalation of privilege. Intel is releasing microcode updates to mitigate this potential vulnerability.

Description: Incorrect behavior order in transition between executive monitor and SMI transfer monitor (STM) in some Intel® Processor may allow a privileged user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.

Recommendation:
Intel recommends that users of affected Intel® Processors update to the latest firmware provided by the system manufacturer that addresses this issue.
Intel has released microcode update for the affected products that are currently supported on the public github repository.
Please see details below on access to the microcode:

The microcode patch can be OS loaded.
