Equalizer Control

Equalizer control compensates for signal degradation caused by external connectors such as backplanes and cables. The equalization circuit amplifies the high-frequency components of the signal. The equalizer gain curve is shown in the following graph.

The amount of equalizer gain increase is determined according to the amount of loss created in the external connection. You can choose one of four settings, shown in the following graph, to control equalizer gain. At data rate d, a setting of 4 yields the highest frequency, and a setting of 1 yields the lowest frequency. A setting of 0 disables equalizer control.
