Symbol Properties Dialog Box
You open this dialog box by right-clicking a
symbol in a Block Design File (.bdf) Definition or
a Block Symbol File (.bsf) Definition, and then clicking
Properties.
Allows you to specify general, port, parameter, and format properties for the selected symbol.
Note: The Parameters tab is not available for primitives.
General tab
- Symbol name— Displays the name of the selected object.
- Instance name— Allows you to specify the instance name for the selected object.
Ports tab
- Ports— Allows you to change the name, the status, the type,
and the alias of the port.
- Name— Allows you to select the name of the port to be modified.
- Status— Allows you to select the status of the port as Used or Unused. You can double-click to toggle the value.
- Type— Allows you to change the type of the port.
- Alias— Allows you to change the alias of the port.
- Inversion— Allows you to specify inversion options on the
symbol ports.
- None— Allows you to turn off inversion.
- All— Allows you to turn on inversion.
- Pattern— Allows you to specify a pattern and select a radix of binary, decimal, hexadecimal, or octal.
- Hide alias— Allows you to hide the alias of the port as it appears in a .bdf. You can double-click to toggle the value.
- Existing ports— Displays the current assignments for the ports of the selected symbol. You can select a port from the list and then select new assignments.
Parameters tab
- Parameter— Allows you to add a new parameter and its setting
to the Existing parameter settings list. You can also change
the setting in the Existing parameter settings by selecting a
new setting in Setting.
- Name— Allows you to select or type the name of the parameter.
- Setting— Allows you to select or type the setting of the parameter.
- Type— Allows you to edit the parameter type.
- Description— Displays a description of the parameter setting. You should edit the description only when you are working in the Symbol Editor or when you are editing a block.
- Existing parameter settings— Lists the existing parameters, their assignments, their types, and a description of the assignments. You can change existing assignments or add new parameters and assignments to the Existing parameter settings list.
