quad Definition

A set of four GXB transceiver channels, a GXB transmitter PLL, and dedicated common quad circuitry on a supported device ( Arria® series, Cyclone® IV GX, Stratix® IV GT, or Stratix® IV GT) families. A quad can operate in one of the following modes:

10G Ethernet XAUI

IEEE Std 802.3ae compliant XAUI transceiver.

1G Ethernet

IEEE Std 802.3 compliant Gigabit Ethernet transceiver.

Serial RapidIO

High-performance, packet-switched interconnect technology that can exceed 10 Gbps throughput through the use of serial links. Allows optional use of 8B/10B encoders and decoders.

SONET

Detects and aligns A1A2 or A1A1A2A2 type patterns, where A1 is the lower 8 bits of the 16 bit programmed pattern and A2 is the upper 8 bits of the 16 bit programmed pattern. The word aligner switches between A1A2 and A1A1A2A2 pattern detection and alignment based on the rx_a1a2size signal in the ALTGX megafunction.

Custom

Allows 7, 10, or 16 bit pattern detection and word alignment. Allows optional use of 8B/10B encoders and decoders.
