Setup View

Core Parameters

Displays the following controls for configuring the core:

• Pin count— Specifies the number of pins used to connect the device to the external logic analyzer. This value can range from 1 to 255. This value also determines the number of nodes that each bank can contain.
• Bank count— Specifies the number of banks to use. This value can range from 1 to 255.
• Output/Capture mode— Specifies the mode of the logic analyzer. This value can be Registered/State or Combinational/Timing.
• Clock— Specifies the clock node used by the core. When you click Browse..., it opens the Node Finder. This is available only in Registered/State mode. You can also type a node name for the clock.
• Power-up state— Specifies the pin state at power up. This value can be Bank 0 or Tri-stated.

Pins

Displays the setup of the pins in the current instance. It displays the locations of the pins used to communicate with the external logic analyzer. You must specify pin locations in either the Pin Planner or Assignment Editor, and the results display in this window. Double-click the pins table in Setup View to open Pin Planner. The following is displayed in this section of Setup View:

• Pin— Displays type, index, and name of each specified pin.
• Location— Displays the pin location.
• I/O— Displays bank number and type of I/O standard for each specified pin.

Banks

Displays the nodes in the banks. You can view one bank at a time by selecting the appropriate bank name from the Setup View list, or you can view all banks at the same time, by selecting All Banks. You can also select the banks by clicking on the underlined text Bank, or All Banks, in the Logical View. You can add nodes with the Node Finder (shortcut menu), or right-click a node to add it with the Node Finder. You can also drag and drop nodes from the Node Finder to here.

When viewing All Banks, all the nodes in all the banks are displayed. You can use this view to reorganize the nodes between the banks. The following is displayed in the Banks window:

• Pin Index— Displays the index of the pin used for the given node.
• Node— Displays the following node attributes:
• Type— Displays node type, such as register, state, or combinatorial.
• Alias— Displays any name you may have assigned to a node. You can edit this option, but it must contain a unique alias.
• Name— Displays any name assigned from the Node Finder. You can edit this option. If you right-click an existing node in this field a popup menu allows you to duplicate a node and put a copy of it in all other banks. When this occurs it overwrites the nodes at the corresponding index in every bank. You can select several nodes at once, right-click them, and perform various functions, such as move, swap, or copy. If you delete a node, this option defaults to a ground condition, which is indicated with a ground icon.
