SUSE and Intel collaborate closely to optimize and keep mission-critical SAP S/4HANA services up and running. Their solutions proactively identify issues before a failure occurs, leverage automated tools for maintenance and troubleshooting, and are performance-optimized and resilient to increase security and limit downtime. SUSE and Intel commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct a Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study and examine the potential return on investment (ROI) enterprises may realize by deploying the SUSE and Intel Server Platform for SAP Environments 1 (SUSE and Intel server platform). This study aims to provide readers with a framework to evaluate the potential financial impact of the SUSE and Intel server platform on their organizations.

To better understand the benefits, costs, and risks associated with this investment, Forrester interviewed customers and surveyed 168 respondents with experience using the SUSE and Intel Server Platform for SAP Environments at their organizations. For the purposes of this study, Forrester aggregated the experiences of the interviewees and survey respondents and combined the results into a single composite organization that is a global manufacturing firm with 5,000 employees and that uses SAP S/4HANA in a private cloud deployment.

Before deploying the SUSE and Intel server platform, the interviewees’ organizations spent an immoderate time deploying new SAP landscapes, troubleshooting system replication issues, and recovering application data after system restarts, which led to undue overhead and business downtime. After the investment in the SUSE and Intel server platform, the organizations were able to reduce the time it took their IT departments to deploy SAP landscapes, which enabled faster time-to-value of SAP applications. The organizations reduced their SAP administrators’ routine maintenance workloads, they were able to ensure better data availability and faster query response times for their business users, and they could improve SAP system uptime and save on third-party system management tools.
