Telecommunication service provider KDDI has selected Samsung’s vRAN 3.0 solution, powered by 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost, as a key component of the company’s Open RAN deployment expansion in Japan beginning in 2025.
The combination of Samsung’s vRAN 3.0 and 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost offers service providers like KDDI a solution that helps to meet their demanding network capacity, coverage and quality requirements, underpinned by a modern, fully virtualized architecture. The solution enables support of more cells with the same number of servers, increasing power savings and overall cost efficiency.
“KDDI’s Open RAN deployment is a testament to both the continuing scaling of virtualized RAN, and to the success of our 4th Gen Intel Xeon processors with vRAN Boost,” said Cristina Rodriguez, vice president and general manager, Comms Solutions Group at Intel. “We are incredibly proud to collaborate with Samsung, and others across the ecosystem, in helping to deliver the best RAN network outcome for operators across the globe.”
