Companies around the globe rely on collision avoidance technology from Mobileye, an Intel company, to reduce collision rates and enhance fleet safety. For fleets that transport schoolchildren, safety can be especially critical. Seman-Tov, a bus company based in New Jersey that transports 8,000 to 10,000 children a day, has used Mobileye’s safety system to help its fleet cut front-end collisions by at least 50 percent, experiencing vast improvements to driver behavior in the process.

Seman-Tov began installing Mobileye units in its fleet in 2017 as an extra measure to help drivers better deal with the challenge of watching both the road and children onboard. The company found that the Mobileye system produced a visible increase in safety, with front-end collisions dropping significantly and valuable cost-savings realized as a result. Drivers embraced the system’s lane departure warnings, tailgating alerts and other notifications, noting the technology’s ability to help them better concentrate on the road.
Since the over 150-bus fleet implemented Mobileye, Seman-Tov’s drivers have praised the solution as a life-saving second set of eyes that enhances their alertness and helps them transport students safely. Today, the company continues to order Mobileye units for every new bus it purchases, with drivers expressing that the collision avoidance technology should “be in every bus across the United States.”
