2.4.1.5. Global Signals

Altera® FPGAs have different kinds of global signal resources available. Global signals can span the entire chip or smaller regions. Choose the clock networks that can cover all the fanout on a specific domain. For example, you can reduce clock power by switching from a clock network that spans the entire chip to one quarter of the chip, provided all the fanout for that clock is within that region of the chip.
