Maximizing vCMTS Data Plane Performance with 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor Architecture

This document describes in detail how both C-states and P-states can be used to unlock significant power savings for vCMTS deployments. It provide a set of practical, step-by-step instructions detailing how to leverage C-states and P-states within a vCMTS solution to optimize the power draw of Intel® Xeon® CPUs dynamically based on real-time network load.

Several power management features and controls are available on Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, enabling MSOs to realize further power savings on the path toward their climate goals. This paper demonstrates how across a typical 24-hour period, average CPU power consumption can be reduced by using a combination of C-states and P-states.
